Humanistic Integrative Therapy & Counselling

How I can help

Balancing life, career, parenthood and relationships can throw up challenges that may often suddenly come and take us by surprise, leaving us feeling lost and overwhelmed.

At other times we may feel that we are drifting, perhaps unable to identify a specific “problem” but have a sense that something isn’t right and that there might be a better way to live a fuller life.

Whether you are going through a period of transition, a challenging relationship, or are simply feeling at a loss, I can provide a safe and confidential space to talk through difficulties, explore options and learn new skills to help deal with the challenges of life.

I will see you as an individual with your own unique story and life experience and will work with you to explore new ways to relate to yourself and those around you. The absolute core of our work will be based on treating you, the client, with compassion – as another human who will always be respected and accepted as you are.

About me

I am a qualified counsellor, having trained at CPPD in North London and completed their Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling. I have 2 years experience in counselling, previously working at Hq Therapy in Dalston.

I am also a member of the BACP and in accordance with their guidelines I participate in ongoing supervision and professional development.

I’m a father of two, have lived and worked in various places abroad, and spent over two decades working in the corporate world in the City. With this background I feel particularly attuned to the challenges of juggling multiple roles in life, and the tensions that may come up around it.

Specialisms and my experience

Through my work with a broad spectrum of clients at Hq Therapy and my own personal therapy and family experience, I have supported people through a variety of issues. These include mental health concerns, ADHD, bipolar disorder, anxiety, disordered eating, burnout, history of abuse, depression, bereavement and other life transitions.

Humanistic Integrative counselling focuses on the individual as a unique whole and typically involves the use of various techniques and therapeutic models tailored to their particular needs. I tend to mainly draw on:

Person-centred therapy

Existential therapy

Transactional analysis

Gestalt therapy

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)

Compassion based therapy

What to expect

If you decide to contact me, I’ll reply to you within 48 hours and let you know about my availability. I will then offer you a free phone call so that we can discuss your needs and hopes for therapy, and to see if we would be a good match. I offer both open-ended and time limited therapy.

Sessions cost £65, and I do hold space for a limited number of low-cost sessions for those who are suffering from financial hardship – please let me know if this is something that you are interested in.

As a registered member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I abide by their Ethical Framework: http://www.bacp.co.uk. I am fully insured to practice, and hold Professional Liability Insurance.

I am registered with the ICO and adhere to the GDPR rules and guidelines, and all of our work well be handled in the strictest of confidence (although there are some rare exceptions to this). Your personal details will not be disclosed to my supervisor and all reference to our work will be handled anonymously.

If I were seriously incapacitated, a trusted colleague acting as a therapeutic executor will manage my practice responsibilities. They are also a registered member of the BACP
